Shake off your winter blues with the bright lights of cabaret when Perth’s inaugural cabaret festival bursts onto the stages of the newly refurbished His Majesty’s Theatre in June 2021.
At this time of seemingly overwhelming change, it has never been more important to share stories that remind each of us we all matter and can all change things. PICF will connect the people of Perth to our communities, to our region and to the world, while provoking us to laugh, to think and maybe even to cry (just a little bit).
Nestled in stunning new spaces throughout His Majesty’s Theatre, stories are intertwined with music, discussions and interactions to challenge audiences while showcasing the people, stories and politics of our society across seven nights of overwhelming delights.
However, cabaret is a melting pot of evolving forms of performance that can’t be pinned down to any one discipline. A good cabaret show isn’t just titillating, it’s transgressive; upending everyday ideas about art and bodies, politics and sex, it’s provocative as well as pleasing.
Cabaret loves you but sometimes it likes to see you squirm!
And that we will do with world class performances, workshops, master classes and artist talks. His Majesty’s Theatre will provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable program of events.
Cabaret is intimate, immediate and breaks all the rules.
And it’s more important than ever before.
